The Trix 24220 is a two-wagon HO scale track cleaning set based on the Deutsche Bundesbahn KK 15 type, designed to keep the rails clean during operation. The two wagons are permanently coupled via a pin coupler and feature a cleaning system with vertically acting metal blocks and polishing felt pads that can be removed and washed when saturated. A functional piece that works while the train runs.

Each wagon in the set has hinged hatches for easy access to the cleaning system. The metal blocks act on the rail by direct contact, and the polishing felt is compatible with both nickel silver and brass track. The short coupler with guide mechanism makes integration into tight consists straightforward, allowing the set to run naturally on a standard layout. Total length of the set is 153 mm over buffers.

The set is designed for DC (2-rail) operation, with the option to fit the AC wheelset 700150 for use with AC systems. It represents DB Era III and was an exclusive edition for Trix 10 Year Insider Club members. Reference 24220, HO scale (1:87).
Role on the layout
During a running session, slipping this set into a DB freight consist allows progressive rail cleaning without stopping traffic. On a layout with nickel silver or brass track that accumulates oxide or dirt over time, the improvement in electrical contact quality is especially noticeable with analogue locomotives sensitive to rail conductivity. The set blends into the train almost unnoticed, but its effect on running quality is immediate.
