The Trix 24218 reproduces a four-axle Zans type tank wagon from the private fleet of On Rail GmbH (ORV), with livery matching the 2018 operational condition. In HO scale and measuring 19.6 cm over buffers, this wagon carries the visual weight of modern freight rolling stock: a large-capacity tank, sturdy bogies and an industrial look that fits naturally into Era VI consists.
Construction and applied details
The model features numerous individually added parts: lower discharge pipes, dome lids, operating levers and grab handles. The handrails, railings and walkway grilles on the upper section are made from etched metal, giving them solidity without losing scale fineness. One end carries a complete brakeman's platform with a ladder leading up to the top walkway — a detail that really stands out when the wagon is placed in a visible position within the train.
Y25 Lsd1 bogies and DC system
The two two-axle bogies reproduce the Y25 Lsd1 design, with double brake shoes visible around the wheels. The wagon is set up for DC (two-rail) operation with E700580 wheelsets. The equivalent AC version is sold as Märklin 47543 with a different registration number. Coupling follows the NEM 362 standard with short-coupling kinematics.
In a consist and on the layout
A tank wagon of these dimensions works well both on its own and multiplied into a block train. Several 24218 wagons running together on the track create that sense of a homogeneous industrial consist that defines modern freight traffic in Europe. On an Era VI layout with contemporary infrastructure, this type of rolling stock helps loading or transit scenes feel coherent without needing many additional elements.
