The Trix 24050 tackles one of the most common problems on HO layouts: rail dirt that causes contact loss, current drops and erratic locomotive behaviour, especially at low speeds. It does so from within the consist, without interrupting the running session or requiring any additional tools.
A DB K 15 wagon with a real technical function
The model reproduces a Deutsche Bundesbahn K 15 drop-flap wagon from Epoch III, finished in the characteristic oxide brown of DB service stock, with pad-printed technical lettering. Concealed beneath the chassis, the cleaning device works quietly: a floating metal block with automatic vertical movement keeps two polishing felts in constant contact with the rail surface. The felts are washable and replaceable; official spares are available under Trix reference E106291 in packs of ten. The roof flaps are operational and can be opened manually to inspect the interior.
Confirmed technical data
The wagon measures 82 mm over buffers, making it easy to include in consists with shunting locomotives or in moderately sized trains. It features a NEM 362 coupler with short coupling kinematics. The system is DC (direct current, 2-rail), compatible with the main HO track systems on the market. Manufacturer reference: Trix 24050. Official EAN: 4028106240508. Manufacturer: Gebr. Märklin & Cie. GmbH.
Consist and layout integration
One of the key advantages of this wagon is its discretion: from the outside it looks no different from any other technical service wagon in an Epoch III freight train. It can be left permanently coupled without breaking the visual coherence of the consist. On a layout with continuous running, its presence in the train means that every lap of the circuit is also a track maintenance cycle — no stops, no manual intervention required.
