The Trix 22588 reproduces the Am 842 000-2 from SBB Cargo in HO scale, part of the export range for the Swiss market. At just 90 mm long, this is a shunting locomotive that doesn't need much space to make its presence felt: the metal handrails and chassis with metal motor housing give it a visual solidity that reads clearly even in a display cabinet.
Motor and traction for consistent performance
At the heart of this Am 842 is a 5-pole Maxon coreless motor with flywheel, driving 4 powered axles with 2 traction tyres. The metal spur gears benefit from a running-in period to reach their smoothest operation standard behaviour for models with this type of drivetrain. Lighting is directional LED: 3 front headlights and 1 rear light, switching automatically with the direction of travel. The NEM 652 coupler allows connection with rolling stock from a wide range of manufacturers.
Analogue version ready to run
This reference is the analogue version without a digital decoder, designed for DC layouts. It does not include an mfx decoder or any declared provision for later digitalisation, making it a straightforward fit for analogue layouts with no additional work required.
