The Roco 77002 brings together two Uacs-type silo wagons from Czech private operator AWT in a set designed for modellers who want to build a freight consist with visual coherence from the very first wagon. The four sphero-cylindrical silos on each unit, the anthracite grey livery with AWT's tricolour logo and the individual UIC registration numbers mean the two wagons complement each other without looking identical something that really shows when forming longer trains.
Details that reward a close look and feel right on the track
Roco has worked this model to a level of detail that goes well beyond surface finish. The grilles on the upper longitudinal walkways are produced in open metal etching, allowing light to pass through naturally. The air blow pipes, perimeter handrails, grab rails and vertical ladders are fitted as individual three-dimensional parts on the tanks, not printed into the mould. The underframe faithfully reproduces the network of brake cylinders, reservoirs and pneumatic discharge pipes that defines the Uacs design, widely known as the Rajka in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Confirmed technical data
Each wagon rides on two four-axle bogies with insulated polished metal wheels and short KK-Kinematik couplers to NEM 362 standards. The set is factory-configured for analogue DC. For AC systems, the manufacturer specifies replacing the axles with the Roco 40196 axle set. Total coupled length over buffers (LüP) is 332 mm, with 166 mm per individual wagon.
In a consist and on the layout
Two wagons are a solid starting point, but this set is designed to grow: adding more AWT Uacs units extends the block train without losing coherence, as the individual registration numbers prevent any sense of duplication. In an industrial yard scene or on a layout with unloading facilities, these wagons convey a heavy freight traffic feel that sits perfectly in Era VI. The 166 mm per unit is a useful figure when planning available track space before expanding the consist.
