The Trix 23095 reproduces the WRmz 137 dining car in DB AG livery for the IC 2013 DortmundOberstdorf service, as operated in 2003. It is a pressurised coach with SIG transitions designed for long-distance traffic. On the layout, it sits at position 11 within the IC 2013 consist, making it a specific piece within a well-defined and documented formation.
LED lighting and operation within the consist
The car features series LED interior lighting that can be controlled digitally from the decoder fitted in the consist's control car. Current-conducting couplers allow the electrical signal to pass from one coach to the next without requiring a separate decoder in each unit, simplifying the management of the whole formation and keeping the lighting consistent throughout the train. In a long consist, this system ensures the interior lights up and dims evenly, with no flickering.
Model details
The model includes disc brakes, magnetic rail brakes, anti-roll dampers, entrance doors, windows and printed route boards. Transparent red tail light inserts complete the finish at the end of the car. The length of 28.2 cm over buffers and the minimum radius of 360 mm are worth bearing in mind when planning the track layout for the full formation.
Its place in the IC 2013 consist
Within an Epoch V IC formation, the dining car occupies a recognisable spot: it breaks the visual repetition of the passenger coaches and gives the train a more complete, realistic read. In a station scene, its presence in the middle of the consist adds natural variety to the whole, especially when combined with the rest of the Trix IC 2013 series coaches to complete the prototype formation.
