The Trix 22722 reproduces the NS 6400 diesel locomotive with road number 6503, one of the most recognisable classes in the NS Cargo traction fleet during Era V. In HO scale and 165 mm long, it sits naturally at the head of freight consists or as a shunting unit on an industrial or port layout.
Bell-armature motor and four powered axles
At the heart of this locomotive is a bell-armature motor with flywheel, delivering smooth, controlled running even at low speeds. The four powered axles, fitted with traction tyres, ensure consistent grip across the layout a combination that makes a real difference on gradients or curves with a trailing load.
LED lighting and digital readiness
The front headlights and rear red lights are maintenance-free LEDs that switch automatically with the direction of travel, giving the model visual coherence in motion. Although it runs on pure analogue, the locomotive includes an 8-pin digital connector for fitting a decoder later without complex bodywork modifications.
The 6503 on the layout
Within an Era V freight consist, the Class 6400 brings that working-train rhythm that suits both industrial trackwork and a classification yard scene. At 165 mm it takes up just the right amount of space to lead a rake of wagons without upsetting the visual scale of the whole. It also works well as a solo shunting unit, where its size and proportions look very natural on the track.
