The BB67400 is one of the most recognisable diesel classes in the SNCF fleet, and Azar Models brings it to Z scale as the BB67478 in FRET livery. At 79 mm long and 25 grams, this locomotive combines a compact footprint with a construction built to run smoothly: a coreless motor, two flywheels and both bogies powered deliver balanced traction even on radii from 145 mm.
Construction and finish in Z scale
The model is injection-moulded in plastic with burnished metal wheels and long couplers. The front and rear LED lighting is reversible warm white when leading, red at the tail adding visual coherence to the train's movement. The electronics are upgradeable: the analogue DC version can be converted to digital later with an optional micro-decoder, without any bodywork modification.
A BB67400 on the Z layout
In Z scale, every millimetre matters. The 79 mm of this BB67478 allow it to fit into compact layouts without losing the read of a real locomotive: the FRET SNCF livery in Epoch V places it firmly in a freight context, and at the head of a loaded wagon consist the whole train gains naturalness and visual flow. The long couplers ease passage through tight curves without the join between locomotive and first wagon breaking the rhythm of the consist.
Analogue and ready to evolve
This reference AZAR-L01-FR2A is the analogue DC version. For those already working with digital or planning to do so, Azar Models offers the AZAR-L01-FR2D version with a factory-soldered DH05 micro-decoder. The analogue version, with its upgradeable circuit, lets you take that step later without changing the model.
