The Sudexpress Sgnss wagon reproduces an intermodal container flat from VTG operator, registered 34 71 455 2 034-7 and placed in Era VI. It carries two CEMTOR 20-foot open containers, giving it a very specific and recognisable freight train character for anyone familiar with intermodal traffic on the Spanish network.
Construction and model detail
The body is injection-moulded in high-quality plastic over a metal chassis, a combination typical of Sudexpress wagons that adds weight and running stability. The CEMTOR containers are secured to NEM380 standard, and the model includes spare parts. The NEM 362 coupler with short kinematic makes it easy to integrate into consists with tight curves without the wagons separating too visibly.
Compatibility and running
With a minimum radius of 350 mm and compatibility with track codes 70, 75, 83 and 100, the wagon suits layouts of varying track density without any complications. It runs on direct current (DC) and requires no additional installation to operate. The flywheel contributes to smooth running even on gradients or through changes of pace within the consist.
On the layout and in a consist
Within an Era VI freight train, this Sgnss adds load variety without breaking the coherence of the whole. The two CEMTOR 20-foot containers give height and volume to the flat, helping the consist stand out visually on the track. Combined with other flat wagons or freight wagons from the same period, it gives the composition a natural feel and the sense of a train in real service.
