The Roco 74240 is the Blm trailer coach for the Czechoslovak State Railways, conceived as the direct companion piece to the M 152.0 diesel railcar. It shares the same 161 mm over-buffer length, the same body shell and the same two-tone Traffic Red and Cream livery, making both units a visually coherent set from the moment they are coupled on the track.
A trailer built to complete the consist
On Czechoslovak secondary lines during the seventies and eighties, the M 152.0 railcar typically ran with one or two Blm coaches. Adding this trailer to the equivalent Roco railcar reproduces exactly that everyday formation: the train gains length, the visual rhythm of the consist finds its balance, and the platform scene takes on a naturalness that a solo railcar simply cannot offer. Running number 70 54 24-29 083-5 corresponds to a real prototype from the series, with weight markings, inspection dates and ?SD institutional lettering readable under a magnifying glass.
Smart lighting and digital readiness
Unlike a conventional passive trailer, this Blm features a printed circuit board with DIP-Switch controls that allow independent adjustment of the interior LED lighting and the two red tail lights, adapting the lighting behaviour to the coach's position within the train. For digital layout operation, the chassis includes a 6-pin socket ready for the installation of a compatible function decoder, such as the Roco 10895. Polished metal axles on low-friction bearings and the short NEM 362 coupler with KK-Kinematik complete a mechanism geared towards smooth running even on curves from 358 mm radius.
Interior detail and atmosphere
The detailed interior reveals the asymmetric seating layout of the single-class saloon, the partition screens and the small guard's compartment, all visible through the wide transparent windows when the LED lighting is on. On a rural station scene or a secondary line layout, that illuminated interior detail brings the whole setting to life without any additional elements.
