The Roco 66054 brings together two Us-Z type flat wagons from NS in HO scale, both lettered with the real markings of Hoogovens and Thomassen & Drijver - Verblifa. The sliding tarpaulins in blue and brown, combined with fine pad-printed load and tare inscriptions, give this set a highly recognisable industrial character within an Epoch IV freight consist.
Two wagons with their own identity in the same box
Each of the two wagons carries a distinct livery reflecting the logistical relationship between the Hoogovens steelworks and the Thomassen & Drijver metal packaging plant. That variety within the same set allows you to build a consist with visual continuity without the wagons looking identical something you appreciate especially as the train gains length on the layout.
Confirmed technical data
Both wagons are two-axle, 106 mm long each. The coupler system is NEM 362 with short coupler kinematics (KK-Kinematics), which makes running on tighter curves easier. The set comes factory-configured for direct current (DC).
On the layout, at the heart of an industrial scene
Within a freight consist set in the 1980s, these Us-Z wagons fit naturally alongside general cargo rolling stock or similar flat wagons. Their specific industrial decoration with real references to Dutch companies helps the scene gain depth and atmosphere without needing extra elements. They work equally well in motion or standing on a loading siding.
