The Roco 6600016 brings together three NS S-type flat wagons in a single set designed for Era III freight consists. Each wagon arrives with its own running number and heavy load already mounted on the deck, so they can go straight onto the layout without any extra preparation. Coupled up, the set measures 372 mm over buffers a length that gives real visual weight to any freight train.
Three wagons, three numbers, one coherent freight block
One of the details that sets this pack apart is the individual numbering on each wagon. In a freight consist, repeated running numbers break the illusion; here that problem simply doesn't exist. The three wagons can run together as a block or be split across different consists without any two duplicating each other. The side lettering carries NS codes, weight specifications and Era III braking instructions details that really come into their own on slow station passes or loading and unloading scenes.
NEM 362 coupler with short kinematics
The wagons are fitted with NEM 362 pockets and a short-kinematics mechanism (KK-Kinematics). This system keeps the set running tight on straight track while handling curves smoothly, reducing the risk of derailment on layouts with tight radii. The wagons are factory-configured for DC; if your layout runs on AC, the axles can be replaced with Roco official axles reference 40196.
How they fit into the layout
In an Era III freight consist, these three flat wagons bring continuity and variety at the same time: the low deck and visible load contrast well with covered wagons or hoppers, helping the train build visual rhythm without losing coherence. Placed in the middle or at the tail of a long consist, they reinforce the working-train feel. They also work well in static scenes on a yard or industrial siding, where the load on the deck brings the scene to life without needing figures or extra accessories.
