The Minitrix 18703 set brings together three four-axle container flat wagons from the Sgmmns 190 series, all in the livery of AAE (Ahaus Alstätter Eisenbahn AG), a rolling stock leasing company. Each wagon carries its own chassis number and a different load, making this an intermodal consist with instant visual variety no extra wagons needed.
Three wagons, three different loads
The first wagon carries a 40-foot maritime container from ONE (Ocean Network Express) in its unmistakable magenta pink. The second carries a MAERSK container in light grey. The third comes fitted with two tank containers for liquid cargo transport. This combination naturally reproduces the variety found at a real intermodal terminal in Era VI, where shipping lines and logistics operators from all over the world share the same tracks. On a layout with a container yard or classification siding, these three wagons together create that visual rhythm of mixed freight that defines contemporary intermodal traffic.
Construction and technical details
All three wagon frames are made from die-cast metal, adding axle weight and improving consist stability on the track. The bogies are Y 25 type, with low-friction conical bearing axles. The coupling system is NEM 355 with short close-coupling kinematics, reducing the gap between wagons on straight track and giving the train a more continuous, realistic look. The metal wheels feature centre insulation. Containers and tank units are removable and interchangeable via standardised locking pins, allowing loading and unloading scenes to be recreated at fixed terminals.
Layout integration and track compatibility
The set is designed for DC and runs without issue on DCC-controlled layouts, as it is passive unpowered rolling stock. The total coupled length is 255 mm (approximately 85 mm per wagon), a manageable size for N scale track plans. The three wagons are individually packed in clear plastic trays, protected by a shared master sleeve. Paired with an Era VI freight locomotive, this set delivers service coherence and load variety without having to hunt down individual wagons from different sources.
