The Minitrix 18420 reproduces in N scale the four-axle Sgnss container flat wagon in the European Rail Rent livery, a key operator in European intermodal freight during Era VI. The model comes loaded with three containers from Austrian manufacturer Innofreight, each with a capacity of 46 m³. All three are removable, allowing you to reconfigure the load or run the wagon empty in a marshalling yard or container terminal scene.
Construction and finish of the Sgnss wagon
The chassis is die-cast metal, giving the wagon the weight and track stability expected from a carefully crafted model. The bogies are Y 25 type, a familiar sight on European freight rolling stock over recent decades, and the coupler is a short NEM type, well suited for smooth running in long consists without losing that compact train feel. The system is DC analogue, compatible with direct current layouts.
Innofreight containers on the layout
Innofreight is an Austrian company specialising in bulk transport solutions using containers, and their units are a recognisable feature of Central European Era VI freight traffic. On the layout, the three containers sitting on the Sgnss create a tall, compact load silhouette that contrasts well with low-platform wagons or hopper cars within the same consist, adding visual variety without breaking the overall coherence.
Fitting into a consist and layout
At 123 mm in length, the wagon takes up a well-proportioned amount of track space for N scale and fits naturally into intermodal freight consists. Its German registration and ERR connection place it comfortably alongside Era VI diesel or electric locomotives on any contemporary Central European layout. As a discontinued model, availability is limited.
