The Minitrix 15692 set brings together two Grand-Confort coaches from the SNCF in N scale, set in Era IV. A first-class coach with luggage compartment and a restaurant car form the service core of a TEE consist, with new road numbers compared to previous editions and a finish designed to integrate seamlessly with the rest of the series.
Two coaches with a defined role in the train
The choice of these two coach types is no coincidence: the first-class coach with luggage section covers the passenger and logistics end of the train, while the restaurant car provides the visual and functional continuity typical of long-distance expresses. In an N scale layout, where every millimetre counts, the 318 mm total over buffers already gives the train a noticeable length before adding further coaches. Coupled with the Minitrix 16612 locomotive and the complementary coaches from reference 15691, the set allows you to build a coherent and recognisable TEE formation on the layout.
Close coupling and metal wheels
Both coaches feature KK-Kinematik close couplers to NEM 355 standard, which reduces the visible gap between vehicles on straight track and manages lateral displacement on curves without straining the connection. The wheels are turned metal with centre insulation, mounted on detailed bogies. The system is analogue DC two-rail and runs passively on DCC digital layouts without parasitic current draw.
LED interior lighting ready
The chassis include the housings and channels needed to fit the brand's LED interior lighting kit, reference 66616, compatible with both analogue and digital operation. Without the kit, the coaches run unlit; with it, the interior of both coaches comes to life in night scenes or inside tunnels on the layout. In N scale, it is the kind of detail that transforms how the train reads on the track and brings the platform to life when the consist is standing at the station.
