Märklin reference 47886 brings together two private-owner tank wagons under the Dutch Railways (NS) umbrella, lettered for Convoy-Contigas B.V. Each wagon carries its own UIC number, so they can be added to a consist without looking identical: one is a Zas 820 type, built for mineral oil transport, and the other a Zacs type, intended for chemical products. Both feature metal tanks and brake platforms details that read well in HO scale.
Two tankers, two types of load
Pairing a Mineralölwagen and a Chemiewagen in the same set lets you build a short liquid-freight sequence without hunting down individual references. In a goods train, mixing tank types even when they share the same company livery gives the consist a more natural look, as if each wagon had been coupled up according to the needs of the service. The short hook coupler makes it easy to connect with other Märklin wagons and keeps the gap between units to a minimum.
Alternating current and the Märklin system
The set is designed for alternating current (AC), the standard Märklin HO system. This makes it directly compatible with the brand's three-rail track and locomotive range, with no adaptation required. For anyone already running Märklin AC stock, these tankers slot straight into the layout without any fuss.
Layout integration
In a yard scene or industrial area, a couple of tank wagons parked beside a loading facility helps the whole setting feel coherent without needing many extra elements. Hooked behind a freight locomotive, the two units add length and rhythm to the train without the consist looking thin. As a discontinued reference, availability on the second-hand market or in remaining shop stock is limited.
