Description

The E 94 is one of the most recognisable electric locomotives in German railway history, and Fleischmann reproduces it in N scale as E 94 003 in the Deutsche Reichsbahn grey livery, with fine decorative lining, white wheel tyres and prominent grab rails at both cab ends. A silhouette that, even at 116 mm, retains every bit of the original's character.

Mechanics and features of reference 7560071

The model features a 3-pole motor with flywheel, drive distributed across 4 of its 6 axles and 2 traction tyres for reliable haulage. The dual LED headlights switch automatically with the direction of travel, and the couplers follow the NEM 355 standard with a locking mechanism. For those looking to go digital, the 6-pin NEM 651 interface allows a decoder to be fitted without complex work on the mechanism.

Era II and DRG livery

The model depicts E 94 003 in Era II, the period spanning from the late 1930s through to the early 1940s. The grey livery with fine detailing is characteristic of this stage of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, making it a coherent piece for layouts set in that chapter of German railway history.

On the layout and in a consist

With a minimum radius of 192 mm, the E 94 003 fits into N scale layouts without the need for particularly wide curves. Its 116 mm length and articulated profile give it a strong visual presence at the head of a consist, whether leading freight wagons or as a display piece in a cabinet. In an Era II station scene, the contrast between the grey livery and white wheel tyres helps the locomotive stand out clearly within the overall composition.
