X-2 White Gloss is one of the most recurring references on any modelling table. Tamiya includes it in its acrylic Mini line, and the X designation confirms the gloss finish: a clean white with full coverage that responds well to both brush and airbrush when used with the correct thinner. It does not disappear under layers or demand endless touch-ups; with basic surface preparation, it covers with confidence.
A white that works across many projects
X-2 turns up in all kinds of builds: scale car bodywork, aircraft fuselages, figures, dioramas, detail parts. It is one of those shades that modellers end up reaching for sooner or later, whether as a main colour, as a base for other tones or as a final finish on specific areas. Brush and airbrush application
For brush work, Tamiya recommends Paint Retarder (87114) to improve the finish and reduce brush marks. For airbrush, thin with Tamiya X-20A Acrylic Thinner or Lacquer Thinner for faster drying. In both cases the result is a bright, stable, well-covered white that suits car, aircraft, ship or any other scale model where gloss is part of the final finish.

X-2 is one of those paints worth keeping in stock at all times. Not because it is spectacular on its own, but because it shows up in almost every project sooner or later.
