The Trix 23473 reproduces the six-axle CIWL dining car in the teakwood brown livery that defined Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits rolling stock in the early twentieth century. The prototype is the Paris-Karlsbad Express in its winter 1914 version, fleet number 1702 D, and the model captures that specific moment with fine construction and numerous separately applied details.
An Epoch I coach with a fitted interior and strong track presence
At 237 mm in length and riding on six axles, this dining car takes a prominent place in any Epoch I consist. The fully appointed multicolour interior comes to life through the factory-fitted interior lighting, making it a particularly striking piece in night scenes or in display cases with controlled lighting. The fine construction and applied details reinforce the overall reading of the model without any additional work required.
Coupling and current collection
The model features NEM 362 couplers with KK kinematics for close coupling, reducing the gap between coaches and improving the visual continuity of the train. Each car has its own current collector, ensuring stable lighting even on track sections with reduced contact. Retractable diaphragms complete the finish between coaches when the consist is assembled.
Integration into Epoch I formations
Within a long-distance coach formation from the early twentieth century, this six-axle dining car adds length and variety without breaking the visual coherence of the consist. The CIWL teakwood brown livery is instantly recognisable and works well alongside other coaches from the same company or operators of the same era. This is a discontinued Trix model, which limits its future availability on the market.
