The BB 26000, known as the 'Sybic', is one of the most recognisable electric locomotives in the SNCF fleet. Built between 1988 and 1998, it reached 200 km/h with an output of 5,600 kW. Roco reproduces it in HO scale under reference 7510143 with running number BB 126163, in the 'En Voyage' livrée with Carmillon logo and allocation to the Dijon depot, corresponding to Epochs V and VI.
Digital with sound from the very start
The locomotive comes with an integrated PluX22 decoder with sound, requiring no further adaptation. The five-pole motor with flywheel and 4 powered axles one fitted with traction tyres ensures smooth, controlled running. The LED lighting includes dual front headlights in the 'En Voyage' design, direction-dependent switchable rear lights and digitally activated cab interior lighting. The NEM 362 coupler with short coupling kinematics allows operation on a minimum radius of 358 mm.
The 'En Voyage' livrée and epoch reading
The combination of the 'En Voyage' livrée with the Carmillon logo places this unit firmly in Epochs V and VI of the SNCF. For those working with French rolling stock from the late twentieth or early twenty-first century, this BB 126163 fits naturally at the head of passenger consists or in station scenes with a contemporary atmosphere.
Presence on the layout and at the front of a consist
At 204 mm in length, the BB 126163 takes up just the right amount of space to lead a passenger train without visually unbalancing the overall composition. In a platform scene or at the approach to a recent-era station, the 'En Voyage' livrée adds a recognisable splash of colour that gives coherence to the French railway atmosphere. The integrated sound reinforces that sense of movement as the locomotive enters or leaves the station.
