Le Capitole was one of the most recognisable trains in SNCF history: the first regular express to run at 200 km/h in Europe, with a deep red livery that made it unmistakable on any platform. This REE Modèles set brings together three first-class UIC A9 coaches in N scale, reproducing the Era IV consist in which this service ran between Paris and Toulouse for decades. A solid starting point for anyone wanting to build that train in miniature.
Three coaches to start or complete Le Capitole in N
The NW155 set includes three UIC A9 units of 154 mm each, making up nearly half a metre of train on the track with this pack alone. The coaches feature interior detail and an identification plate touches that are especially appreciated in N scale when the layout lighting or display case allows a view inside. NEM couplers with fixed buffers and pincer hooks make integration with other compatible rolling stock in the same scale straightforward.
Confirmed technical data
Manufactured by REE Modèles and released in 2020, the set is designed for two-rail DC analogue systems. N scale (1:160) allows these coaches to run on tighter curves than in HO, which broadens the layout design options. The material is plastic, with finishes typical of the REE range for N scale.
In a consist and in a display case
Three first-class coaches form a functional core: adding further units from the same series or a compatible dining car gives the train the length Le Capitole had in real service. In a display case, the characteristic red livery of this service makes the set stand out clearly within a collection of Era IV SNCF rolling stock. On a layout, headed by a suitable locomotive, the visual rhythm of the three coaches already conveys the feel of a long-distance passenger train.
