The CCü coach from the Royal Bavarian State Railways is one of those models that anchors a layout to a very specific moment in railway history: the Epoch I express trains, when each German regional company still maintained its own visual identity before unification under the DRG. Minitrix reproduces it in N scale with Bavarian olive green livery, outline lining, Bavarian royal crown crests and Roman class numerals on the sides.
An Epoch I coach with unmistakable Bavarian identity
The prototype of this CCü dates from 1908 and was designed for the long-distance express services of the K.Bay.Sts.B. In N scale, the pad-printing reproduces the livery details with the precision needed to keep the coach consistent alongside its companions in the same consist: the PPü brake van (15968) and the ABBü composite 1st and 2nd class coach (15969). All three together, headed by an S 3/6 steam locomotive, form the Bavarian express that Minitrix conceived as a coherent modular set.
Mechanics and technical preparation
The model features precision three-axle bogies with centrally isolated metal wheels, short KK-Kinematik coupling to NEM 355 standard and a length of 119 mm over buffers. It comes factory-prepared for the subsequent installation of interior LED lighting, compatible with Minitrix kits 66616 and 66618. The isolated axle system allows use on both analogue DC and digital DCC or Selectrix layouts without further modification.
Role within the consist
On an Epoch I layout, this 3rd class coach adds length and continuity to the train without breaking the visual coherence of the Bavarian set. Running on straight track, the KK-Kinematik mechanism closes the gaps between coach gangways and reinforces the impression of a compact, articulated train. In a display case, the olive green livery with gold detailing gives it a character that clearly sets this rolling stock apart from other German companies of the same period.
