The Hobbytrain H3079-1 reproduces the G1700BB diesel locomotive from Europorte, numbered 1040, in the distinctive livery of this SNCF subsidiary. In N scale, at just 95 mm long, it delivers a compact but recognisable presence well suited to space-saving layouts, yard scenes or Epoch VI industrial settings.
Motor and traction for smooth running in N scale
At the heart of this locomotive is a Glockenanker coreless motor with flywheel, delivering smooth, controlled running especially at low speeds where yard shunting demands precision. The 4 powered axles and 2 traction tyres provide reliable grip even on gradients or loaded sections. Lighting switches from white to red depending on the direction of travel, adding visual coherence to movement on the track.
Decoder-ready with Next18 interface
Out of the box, the H3079-1 runs on analogue DC over two rails. The Next18 interface (NEM662) allows a decoder to be fitted later without complex modifications, opening the door to digital control whenever the modeller is ready. The NEM 355 coupler with KK kinematics makes it easy to couple compatible N scale rolling stock.
On the layout, a yard diesel with its own character
With a minimum radius of 192 mm, this locomotive handles N scale layouts with moderate geometry without difficulty. In a classification scene or on an industrial branch, the Europorte orange livery adds a recognisable splash of colour to an Epoch VI consist. It also works well as a standby locomotive at a small station, where its compact size keeps the overall scene visually balanced.
