The Hbbiks is one of those sliding wall wagons that works particularly well in N scale: its elongated profile and sliding door guides give the model a clear railway reading even on compact layouts. This Hobbytrain set brings together two DB units from Era IV, with two-piece aluminium sliding walls and six interior sections with locking mechanism, manually operable to access the load from either side.
New tooling with functional detail
Released as a new-tooling model (Formneuheit) from 2022 by Wolfgang Lemke GmbH under the Hobbytrain brand, the H24650 features a metal chassis with low-friction axles and a Schacht NEM 355 coupler with KK kinematics. The 95.6 mm length over buffers and 192 mm minimum radius make it compatible with N scale layouts without any special space requirements. The system is two-rail DC (Spur N 2-Leiter Gleichstrom).
Sliding walls that actually move
The model's most striking detail is also functional: the aluminium sliding walls really do slide, revealing the interior sections with their locking mechanism. This is not a decorative feature but a characteristic that brings the wagon to life both on the track and in the display cabinet, especially in loading scenes or shunting yard operations.
