The BB 4155 is one of those electric locomotives that visually defines a transitional era in the SNCF's motive power fleet. Construction and technical features
The 5-pole motor with dual flywheel delivers smooth, progressive running — particularly noticeable in N scale, where jerky starts easily break the illusion of real operation. Traction tyres reinforce grip, and the detailed pantographs add visual presence on the track. LED lighting automatically switches between white and red depending on the direction of travel, with no additional intervention required.
Digital Ready with NEM651 interface
The locomotive leaves the factory in analogue DC configuration, but includes a NEM651 digital interface that allows a DCC decoder to be fitted without any bodywork modifications. A convenient option for those already working in digital or planning to make that move, with no need to adapt the model.
On the layout, leading an Era III-IV consist
In a railway scene set in the 1950s or 1960s, the BB 4155 fits naturally at the head of passenger or light freight consists typical of the SNCF of that period. Its green livery and specific number give it a distinct identity within the overall composition, well beyond being just a generic traction locomotive.
